I'm trying to restrain my optimism about this year's tomato crop. Last year was a disaster

BUT I'm seeing plenty of fruit on the San Marzano. Also planted Grape and Early Girl. So far, they look good, too.

The first yellow squash is almost ready to pick but zucchini is a little slower. Those were also very disappointing, last year.

Sweet peppers - some really developing, others are a bit slower but the chili peppers are great.

And I will probably start pulling the garlic, this week, once the ground dries up a little after last night's MUCH needed rain.

I normally can grow tomatoes in tasty profusion, no sweat. This year, we went from weeks of cool weather with sub-freezing dips, to about 2 weeks of 80s, and then nonstop 90s to 100s daily, and no rain at all. It’s not like my tomatoes aren’t trying, but right now all I’m producing are spider mites. I’m thinking of calling it quits for the summer, and seeding new babies for a fall crop, in a few weeks.

true if it’s too hot during day and night tomatoes won’t turn? I have heard this for years. Didn’t know if it was true.
