I used to think they just removed the claws

Then I took care of my daughter's cat after the surgery and realized it would be for us as though someone clipped off our fingertips. Poor little guy was afraid to walk on the carpet and was freaked out after the procedure. I did some ad lib occupational therapy for him when I found a cockroach in the bathtub (I was living in north Florida). I put him in the tub with it. Once he was focused on catching it, he forgot about his paws.
I now believe it's inhumane and cruel to do that to a cat. I support this legislation. His name was Monet because my daughter acquired him at a farmer's market as an art history student. After the procedure, we changed his name to DeClawed Monet.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
