Related: About this forumSuggestions for cat names
I'm going to meet a cat tonight. If all goes well, I'll take her home with me.
Here she is!

They are calling her Joyce, but I don't like the name. I'm trying to come up with another name that suits her. I've been thinking of Leia or Aria, but I would love suggestions. I'd like a pretty name rather than a traditional cat name.
Thanks in advance for your help!

(572 posts)She had some name at the shelter. We gave her time to acclimate and we noticed she really looked around the house. When we found her part way up the fireplace chimney we decided to call her Scout since she had to scout out e very nook and cranny.

(12,963 posts)Whatever you name her, she's gorgeous!
First name that popped in my head was Amber, and Ambra for her eyes.

(28,418 posts)Nasty woman. No way we were keeping that name.
The kitty was renamed Chessie before we even left the shelter.

(32,599 posts)She was named after the baby vampire in the "Interview with the Vampire" books. We loved those books and loved our Claudia. She lived to be seventeen.
We named her after the baby vampire because our kitty loved to nip people if she was not getting enough attention. She was a spoiled thing.

(412 posts)were some name of our girl cat's names. We also had a Daphne, a goddess. Our tabby was Zena, a sweet stray I rescued in 2008 along with her sister, She Ra. Hope it all goes well and you come with a new cat. Tabby cats, I think have the most sweetest and curious personalities.

(57,280 posts)Was your tabby a good mouser?
cksmithy
(412 posts)But when we had a ratpocalypse situation, in our 100 year old house, she essentially was acting like a pointer dog, until we got the problem solved. Our first tabby cat way back 1972, a indoor/outdoor cat, was a great hunter.

(57,280 posts)I have a mouse problem in my house, so I need a good mouser. This cat is described as affectionate and very playful, loving to chase after her toys. Evidently playfulness and batting around toys is meant to be a sign of a potential mouser.

(1,110 posts)She will also have a few other names- Sweetie, Princess, pretty-pretty, bad girl (a possibility 😆
We had a cat named Sasha but she got Sishy-Sashi, squishy-sqaushy, sashinator, Sasha-squash, and all of the regal names of Princess and Queen Sash.

(897 posts)She looks so golden and playful. I like the sound of Zoroaster and the idea of such a playful creature responding to that name makes me smile. According to google ai, the original form of the name, translated variously as "owner of yellow camels," "possessor of old camels," or "he who loves the light/gold".

(4,312 posts)To see how it fits when Im calling them or talking to them. For some reason, when I do that, I find the name. Some names are awkward to call out. Weirdly, I find 1-2 syllable names the best.

(969 posts)So I'm thinking something like Pavlova, Misty or Ms Tallchief.
But those may not suit her personality. Often if you wait a few days, her name comes to you. Possibly by telepathy; I'm not entirely convinced that cats don't have that capability.

Congrats on your new kitty friend! I'm adopting a couple of big gray brother cats next week, so I get your excitement. I can hardly wait...

(57,280 posts)She didnt have the name very long and spent a lot of time crated.
Go to town and give her a name that fits her. She's a very pretty Tabby. Maybe Tabatha. Looking at her though I keep seeing a Butterfly.
