http://wkrn.tv/1AQ0fQIHelen Rich, heiress of Wrigley Gum, saw the story of lost dog Lady, who walked 30 miles home only to have her family send her to a shelter, and wanted to make a change. Rich was in Hawaii at the time, and called her assistant at her home in Odessa, near Tampa, Florida.
From the article:
So, the assistant made some calls and then boarded the private jet to go to an animal shelter and get the dog.
"Lady" is an aging Labrador who now has the run of Rich's 127 acre farm in northern Hillsborough County.

(18,219 posts)I would do a whole lot more of this.
And shame on that family that sent Lady to a shelter, knowing that an old dog would have no chance....and after the loyalty shown by the dog.

(30,058 posts)A few years ago a dear friend was dying of cancer and had two darling dachshunds. I put the word out they needed a loving home but had to go together. A sister of a friend had lost her darling two months before and decided she wanted the two. Mollie passed away on Sunday evening and the new owner picked them up on Monday afternoon. They were starved for attention of a "mother" because of Mollie's illness and immediately knew they had a new "mom". It was a match made in heaven for all.
