Someone just hit a moose. They hit it, broke its legs, then left it lying there. It tried to get up but it couldn't and it took what seemed like forever for the troopers to come and take care of him. DON'T FUCKING DRIVE AND DO ANYTHING ELSE! ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIVE AROUND WILDLIFE!
I hope the freak that hit that moose IN FRICKING BROAD DAYLIGHT ON THE MAIN DRAG OF MY TOWN burns.
Edit: the boom of a gun just echoed through this place. It was horrible. Right now, I hate people. I hope that moose goes to heaven and dances.
UPDATE: i just saw its calf walk into the woods alone. It was stiff legged with shock and fear. It is small but I will pray it is old enough to survive. Pray for it, okay? I don't want to be the only one dying by inches here. Pray for that calf. -RV

(9,126 posts)I do hope they catch the person. There must be quite a lot of damage to the car. Just awful and will keep the baby in my thoughts.

(2,825 posts)I won't go into some of the things I have witnessed which still haunt me to this day, both in my real life --and on television, as well.
We don't have any moose here in Raleigh, of course, but wild animals, including our black bear are kind of favored by the population, and the veterinarian school (NC State U)is always on the alert for such situations. The veterinarians would have probably sent out a posse of vet students to look for that calf. They make house calls to pick up injured turtles, after all. Also started and maintain the program to restore our native red wolves in the coastal region. Now they're telling people not to shoot the alligator that was somehow released in our watershed. They want to tranquilize and remove it. Last year traffic slowed to let some Canada geese cross the street; then some horrible human got impatient and ran his car right into them. People got his license number, his face was plastered all over the news, and then he was fined and billed for the vet and rehab care.
roguevalley, I don't know if these positive stories help in anyway. I am just hoping someone who is able in the area where you live will hopefully come across that poor baby and help it in some way. I just feel for you so much and yes, I am sending white light and prayers.

(9,265 posts)Is a major problem on one of the streets I travel a lot. Best solution is did someone to get out of their car and shoo them across the street.
Geese are major pests around here ("big feathered shit machines" who have ruined lakes in parks. But no excuse to deliberately run them over
