Update below pictures.
(X-posting from the lounge)
A month ago I was giddy with de-lite to introduce you to out new fur baby, Sir Duke.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/116120070
Today is his one month anniversary with us. HE has happily gained a point (needs about 4 more) and is getting above nicely with our three kittehs, I thought it would be nice to share some of them with you!
Duke with his Pa(w):
When he falls asleep at night he is like a floppy floppy muppet.
Hanging out at our fave mexican El Salvadorian place (the weather was 70 degrees this past sunday you bet we went out for margaritas and lunch!)
This crazy dog actually loves watching YouTube videos, here is is watching birds, but he also likes to watch the Stephanie Miller show on FSTV!)
He who statures at birds
(really, he just stares at them.)
Here he just looks happy, and wants to sing for the Spring to get here!
A few weeks ago I found a Facebook group called People United to Promote the Proper Identification of English Setters and hubby put up some of these pictures to the group.
A woman replied and said that he looked just like one of her dogs puppies. At this point, all we knew about Duke was that he was surrendered in West Virginia. Strange coincidence, This woman was from W. Va too and her Dogs name was Sadie May. That kinda made me curious as Duke had a sister at our shelter called Ellie may. I told her that and what Duke original name was and we were all shocked that it was indeed her former dog.
She was going thru a lot of things in her life and could not keep three dogs. So she felt the best thing was to surrender them with a guarantee that they would find good homes. She still has the momma Dog, Sadie.
She is so happy about this and we are going to try to find out where Ellie may have went.
The very best part is that she took tons of pictures of him growing up. Just yesterday Hubby and I were wondering what he looked like as a puppy.
So here is a picture of Duke as a puppy!
The chances of this happening are amazing!

Since he is an english setter, we gave him the name Duke. We live in alexandria so many street names are from english royalty, so it works.
and one of my fave sones is Sir duke by Stevie Wonder, do he was made a Sir.

(11,589 posts)I fell in love with him at the shelter. Wasn't sure what hubby thought. He wasn't ready for adoption. That day we went ti 4 shelters to look around.
LAter that night, I asked him which dog kept coming back to his thoughts, he mentioned (the dog that would become Sir Duke)
WE went back the next day. They day after that we went again
(still not ready for adoption) but that time, he just acted like he knew us.
The day after that, the shelter said (at about 9 pm at night) that he was available for adoption. We showed up waiting for the doors to open to meet him. fell in love. took him home a day later, after he passed the cat test.
His sister was adopted the same day. They were both surrendered to a vet in West Virginia. She was a beauty as well.

(8,554 posts)The chances of finding any original owner of a shelter rescue are so slim; I feel like jumping up and down that you've managed to do that.
I can imagine what joy this "update" has given you... a beautiful woofie who now knows right where his mama is!

Never in a million years would I have thought it was possible to find his history. We did not even look
and then, there it was.
TRuly amazing.

(10,952 posts)It probably eased the heart of his former owner a lot to know how much Sir Duke is loved in his new home.
