(2,282 posts)We fee 3/4 c with 1/4 c brown rice and 1TBS of pumpkin twice a day.
Natural Balance almost killed our dog.
I swear we're almost ready to cook chicken for her instead, every time there's another recall.

(2,747 posts)All of them like it - even my picky eater - and they're all doing well. It's a 5 star rated food according to dogfoodadvisor.com.
My foster dog had all of her teeth pulled so I soak the kibble in water between meals for her and give her a little of Costco's Turkey and Pea Stew canned food. She's doing well too.

(3,702 posts)They get dry and a little canned mixed with dry for dinner. They are doing well and healthy - have a 14 yr old lab mix and a 10 yr old GSD

(3,702 posts)So they get all the varieties...the prairie one, southwest, ocean one...I think there are four or 5 varieties?
But there was a problem with their distributor for awhile - didn't affect the dry, but our independent pet store was out of canned stuff for awhile. I have never seen it in the big box stores. When we had our first 2 two dogs 18 yrs ago, we gave them canned Alpo because Alpo=dog food right? Until our vet commented that Alpo canned food was basically fast food french fries for dogs. That is about the time we really started looking into what they eat and who makes it.
There is an organic type of canned food (little more expensive and we are on a budget) that they LOVE. And it seriously looks like people food. We also get them the Merrick grain free when it is on sale...they love that too.

(2,747 posts)and it looks good enough to eat myself! One of the pet stores donates food to our rescue and I had a few cans for a foster dog. But it's expensive....I go for the Kirkland Nature's Domain Turkey & Pea Stew. It's 5 star and less than $1 a can.
