I wonder what the doggies are waiting for.

That's a great picture!

(7,634 posts)Anyone who has kids and dogs knows that the dogs radar in at mealtime. Kids love to drop goodies when no-one is looking.
Went through this when my kids were young. It is a no-no but fun to watch.

(12,256 posts)I don't know of too many people who haven't gone through it with their kids. I have with mine, and with theirs, and now with their theirs. Love them all, including all of our wonderful dogs (and kitties) past and present.

(73,930 posts)the world would be a different place if every little kid had a big dog.

(12,256 posts)I can't imagine having grown up without a dog, or without having at least one always in my life.

(73,930 posts)my kids grew up w a boxer dog watching over them. w ehad other dogs, but that boxer was the nanny.
i had one for a few years as a kid, and he changed the culture of my family. my dad tried to spank me once in his presence, and that was the last time he even thought about doing that.
my dad was the alpha in every way w this dog, but when he tried to hit me, the dog just took his wrist in his mouth, planted his ass on the floor, and gave his a look that curled his hair.

(12,256 posts)Your protector. What a good, dear dog your boxer was.
The biggest dog I ever had as a kid was an Australian shepherd mix, and he wasn't very big, really. He kept everyone rounded up like sheep. It was hilarious to us family members, but it took a while for guests to get used to be nudged back into the flock after they'd gone to use the bathroom or something.
I love dogs.

(15 posts)This is a very interesting photo! What a lovely baby! What clever dogs! I like it! Dogs are the children's good partners. In my childhood I often played with a dog that looks like the black dog in the picture.

(12,256 posts)I didn't, since we were a military family and moved around a lot. The only dog I kind of knew was Jo-Jo, a german shepherd guard dog who scared the daylights out of me by lunging and barking every time we walked anywhere near him. I was afraid of dogs until I was around 12 and got to know some friendly ones.
My great-granddaughter is a year older now. Here she was last summer.

The dogs love her and would sleep in bed with her if theyd all fit.
