it's almost harvey's first coming home day and i think he's finally fully settled

he's never been an overly-affectionate cat and always been content to just be in the same room as us. well, within the past month he's started sitting next to us on the couch and even curled up on my lap a few weeks ago. he's always been terrified of the outside but he actually demanded to be let out just now. i knew he wouldn't go much outside the door so i let him out for a minute and he went in without a fuss when i herded him back in.

i never thought i'd feel this kind and level of love again and it amazes me every day.

we finally got his weight leveled off but he's still as large as ever

harvey usually doesn't come much further on the bed than the corner by my feet. it was interesting, though, that neither of them slept with me when the husband was in the hospital.

We never know what's actually happened to them prior to their coming to us, and we can't pretend to know what processes their minds go through.

But I've had many a feral that finally decided I wasn't an enemy, and I've celebrated every one of those days. When they can be at ease, comfortable, safe and at peace.
