They get along just fine most of the time, but they're not "buddies," think the kitty gets on my pup's nerves sometimes when he tries to play - which sometimes consists of jumping right on the dog... 
And the kitty is almost two, according to what the vet said. I found him summer before last as a tiny kitten in a grocery store parking lot, so of course I had to bring him home. He's grown into quite a beautiful cat, IMO, but my dog isn't used to a lively kitten who wants to play. I think the cat likes the dog a lot more than the other way around...
The pup is so gentle with the kitty. And a beautiful young cat.
