Those E collars have come a long way...

had Lila fixed yesterday and she came home withe an Elizabethan collar. Nothing like the hard plastic ancient ones that were a royal pain to take on and off. This one is a light, clear plastic with a simple velcro strip. Thank goodness somebody works on things like this.

She wasn't pregnant which was good and so far she seems like her old self again. She slept a lot yesterday and some today but now she's bothering her brother and snooping through the kitchen same as always.

She was micro-chipped as well. Odd that the vet says it's best to do it when they are knocked out but plenty of other people say they got it done on their dogs while the dogs were awake.

So the dog-in-heat saga is behind us now. Whew! is all I can say.

films. The vets would tape the collars together and there wasn't a very good way to adjust them. Now, they even make soft collars that look a bit like those neck support things that travelers wear on long flights to keep from getting a cramp in their necks.

and because you wove them through the collars, they were a pain to take off and put back on. The dog couldn't see. And they were much louder when the dog crashed into something.

I think the soft collar is a great idea, too.

so far she hasn't tried to lick too much. She still wants to clean her paws and her rear end.
