Related: About this forumUpdate (with pictures) of our adopted kitty
We changed his name from Batman to Charlie (cuz of his little Charlie Chaplin mustache and I could not bring myself to not think of Ben Affleck whenever I said Batman).
Charlie has had his first vet visit (with our vet - he was up to date on stuff from the vet the rescue uses)

He is a supreme cuddler - honestly since day 1 he spends a bunch of time sleeping on my face, my chest or my neck. Here is probably the only pic of myself I have shared on DU in all my years here - I think this is night 2 where he was just holding my face.

Here he is trying to help me craft

And of course catnapping

(3,702 posts)He knows he is a little hottie- the vet techs couldn't get enough of him. He purred so loud it was hard for them to check his breathing with the stethoscope and he rolled on his back when they did his nails.
But it's what he did when they took his temperature that has made him a legend:
He sat up, looked between his legs at the thermometer and took his left front paw and placed it on the device and tech's hand. Not to scratch or swat but maybe to help?

(3,702 posts)Our old dogs were sleeping and kinda meh about him walking in the door but Charlie ran over and instantly started rubbing and head butting his face against my husband's. I have to share the kitty I guess - we have so much love to give him.

(3,702 posts)then when he didn't get adopted he got moved to a last chance sanctuary. We happened to see his posting the day they put it up (someone was going to adopt him and then never showed up - lucky us).
He is so wonderful - our first cat was such a sweetheart and gave us so much love - but he picked us - he just showed up one night.
We were so concerned Charlie may not like us (the hour drive to visit him at his foster mom's was spent nervously hoping he approve of us), and he came out and wanted us to hold him pretty quickly. And after we got him home - he is almost always nearby (usually on my chest/face/head) or cuddled next to my husband on the couch. He slept snuggled against me the first night and since then, he has shared the pillow a little bit more.
Can you see how much I love him!! I can't stop talking about what a sweetie he is!

(3,702 posts)The last year has been so stressful with our oldest dog Jazz...acupuncture appointments, making sure she is comfortable, eating, dealing with a couple of bouts of incontinence...all the while daily weighing is she having a good day or a bad day. She has so much spirit and so much independence and every time I think ok...maybe she is ready to go...nope..she rallies and proves me wrong. As long as she is willing to fight I will be there for her. Losing her will not only devastate my husband and me, but also our other dog Durango who is devoted to her...he will watch over when she sleeps and caters to her every whim (sure eat out of my dish, take my spot on the bed).
Having Charlie has been such a joy. To be able to cuddle and play with him is a nice distraction from constant worry. Just today I was lying on the floor next to Jazz, stroking her fur and little Charlie came and laid down next to us ... not being obnoxious trying to take attention away...he simply wanted to be near us.
This adorable little cat has so much affection in him and he is very generous with it...we are so lucky to have him

(3,702 posts)Just videoing him sleeping. He fell asleep on his back on my lap with his little head drooping over the edge of the chair I was in, so every now and then he would wake up...look around, then slowly drift right back to sleep. He would twitch his little paws, stretch his little legs...and all I could do was squeee (quietly so as not to wake him). I am pretty sure I could hear my dogs rolling their eyes...however I have tons of photos of them sleeping, lounging, cuddling etc.
I am (and so is my husband) such a sucker for balls of fluff.

(11,686 posts)Well, at least your husband is owned with you. I have two sweeties of my own and boy do they rule my life. I have to play fetch with both of mine.....I thought only dogs did that until a few years ago. I think my cats roll their eyes when I am cooing over the other one. I know the feeling of not wanting to move because you do not want to disturb the precious kitty.
