And the whole family, including the cat, are fine.

The feline’s strange caterwauling woke one of the Wild children, who rushed to her parent’s bedroom to let them know the cat was acting strange. Immediately after waking her parents and telling them about the cat, the young girl passed out, causing the family to leave the house and call 911.

Susan Wild and her two children were taken to the hospital and treated for high carbon monoxide levels. They have since returned home. The entire Wild family, Prissy included, is doing fine following the incident.

The wife "forgot to turn off the car and closed the garage door" and the family went to bed and went to sleep. With the car running in the garage.

Fortunately the cat was smart enough to figure out the problem before the homeowner became eligible for the award.

I know another instance of a cat saving lives - my friend's husband's parents were woken up in the middle of the night by their cat - because there was a fire! The Mom said that the cat never got up on the bed, but this time she did - woke them up because a fire had somehow started involving their television. There was serious damage to their home and they had to rebuild, but they all got out safely - thanks to their heroic kitty!
