Manny DNA test. 🐶

We adopted Manny from a rescue center in Jul 2015. He had been turned in with a fully grown Pitt Bull. They were near starvation when turned in. When we picked Manny up from the vet after his neuter he weighed 4.9 pounds. They were not sure of age, but felt at least two, and possibly older. Time marches on and little Manny became bigger & bigger. My vet blessed me out when I took him for his one year checkup because he weighed 7.2 pounds. Now he is at 11.2. I do not over feed, he gets walked so I could not figure out why his weight was creeping up.

I read a post here a few weeks ago about doggie DNA. I went to Chewy.com and got a kit and just got the results. It explains the hefty look to him and his weight. The DNA shows he is 62.5 Chihuahua, 12.5 mixed breed, and 25 Cocker Spaniel. The Cocker explains his heft. When I posted a pic of him shortly after we got him many DUer's thought he had Boston Terrier in him. I was truly surprised about the Cocker in him.

Taken shortly after bringing him home:

Having been turned in with a Pitt Bull, he is not afraid of any dog. He does not bark. When we meet other dogs on our walks he just greets them with a wag.

I feel he may have been abused as he rolls over on his back/side at times. But overall he is a very happy little guy.
