There is hair everywhere in spite of how much I vacuum. We've been brushing but it hasn't seemed to help except to create piles outside for the birds.
They are 79 and 81 pounds now! However, they both think they are lap dogs.

(2,533 posts)I think the girl has lab features. Yeah, she reminds me a lot of our former black lab. Including the fur!!

(16,334 posts)I was still feeling stuff after I vacuumed (tile floors) but when I swiffered, I got up much more than just the vacuum alone. If I don't vacuum first and just swiffer, it's pretty disgusting. They are bringing in dirt off their feet even though I wipe them at the door before they come in. This is why some people won't have dogs!

(16,334 posts)I love big dogs but they are work. And as mentioned, they want to sit on me and that hurts sometimes.
I know our next ones will be whatever they have at the shelter.

(2,533 posts)adorable & she has my heart. BUT chihuahuas are the biggest lap dog and always want to be cuddling with you and burrowing under the covers.

(16,334 posts)they just want to be held. I think my mother in law NEEDS one but she is holding off for a bit. She just lost a dog she dog shared and I think she needs some time.

(11,686 posts)shedders and I would get up each morning and the carpet would have just as much hair as the dog. I now have two cats and one long hair and there is nothing like finding balls of fur lying around when you just vacuumed the day before.

(9,535 posts)I have a bad back so not having to push the vaccum around constantly helps, plus it can get places the vaccum doesn't easily reach, like under end-tables and the piano. Also went to an easy-to-wash couch cover for the room our two big dogs are in most often, plus keep those lint rollers handy.

(11,686 posts)For some reason the name of the fabric is escaping my mind but it is the only kind I will get. It cleans well and hair does not penetrate it. When I had two German Shepherds we actually had their own couch for them. It is good for cat hair also.

(5,591 posts)She is a long hair but I think I shed as much as she does! Heh. I can't blame long silver white hair on a caramel and brown tabby!

(8,445 posts)I had one for a day and a half until I found his owner and there was dog hair EVERYWHERE. He was a super sweet guy. It's a good thing I found his owner quickly because I was getting very attached. He had been lost for four months!

(11,686 posts)later...good grief. There is always some reminder and that was ours....hell, we even found the floating into our food!!

(8,445 posts)As if we could ever forget.
We've been slowly doing some remodeling of our house and we have been planning to replace the front door. I'm going to have a hard time with it. Our Rottweiler's scratches are still there, and he's been gone for over a decade. I just never minded seeing that reminder of him.
I think pet owners eat way more pet hair than they'd ever want to admit.

(11,686 posts)It is funny when you have animal hair on your clothes that do not match the ones you currently have and you have not been to anybody's house who has animals. I have not seen a hair from my other cat in years though as I have now moved three times now but I do miss coming across one once in a while. I can not remember the numbers as it has been a long time since I saw it but there was a study done on how much animal hair that people who have animals actually consume per year.

They need to shed a few pounds if you know what I mean.

(22,068 posts)I have you all beat though with two Great Pyrenees. 115 and 95 pounds worth of shedding machines in their summer hair blow out right now.
As the GP tshirt says, "Embrace the fur!"
