Related: About this forumTo all who love golden retrievers
Every morning when I come home from third shift. The golden is always ready to snuggle in bed we jokingly refer to him as the love sloth. And then we always get to Saturday mornings and I stay up and it causes him stress , he just came to the love seat and tried to grab my arm and drag me to bed. And now I'm being read the golden retriever riot act as in the yapping that they do. Come on man we should be in bed cuddling by now.

(20,998 posts)...a couple I knew had been scrimping and saving to take their vacation of a lifetime. They asked me to housesit and doggiesit their home and their Golden --BEN-- for almost six months. Because of my new work situation -helping start a new company- it turned out to be one of the most stressful times of my life. My savior and best friend was Ben. When my friends left, the last thing they said was "don't let Ben get up in bed and sleep with you." The very first night in the new place, Ben laid his head on the bed and began "talking" to me. I asked "do you want up here in bed with me"? Literally, in the blink of an eye, about 70 pounds of gorgeous Golden was up in bed cuddling. We slept like that for the next 5-1/2 months. Just about every morning, I would wake up to a paw on my shoulder and those beautiful, bright eyes smiling at me. Ben truly was a life-saver.

(12,842 posts)I agree are golden loves to snuggle. At night the chocolate lab will sleep with our son, and the golden and Newfie sleep with my wife. And at times when I'm off I wake up and the golden is between my wife and I a very sweet boy.

(20,998 posts)...I had moved up to the big city and my new apartment. I came back about a month later for one of the couple's birthday. There were about 50 people in attendance. I had just walk through the door when Ben just went nuts: twisting and turning, shaking, jumping up and down, crying... Ben and I ended up in the middle of the living room floor --and in the middle of the gathering-- holding each other, both of us crying with joy to see the other.
Ben has since passed the rainbow bridge, but his friendship and companionship is something I will truly treasure for the rest of my life.

(12,842 posts)Couple months back when I was on lay off my brother asked us to watch his year old lab. Him and his fiancée were working long hours and they felt he was neglected, they had rule no getting on furniture no people food no sleeping in bed. He even brought his crate I tried the first night and his crying broke me in like two minutes, I left him out the crate and he flew upstairs into the bed and snuggled next to my wife. Well according to my brother we ruined his dog he now he gets on furniture sleeps in bed with them. And drools at the table when they eat , they say aunt and uncle spoiled you.

(17,622 posts)...if I am upstairs they look at me and whine. They want me to go to bed...not for cuddling..but because they get a night night cookie. If it was up to them I would be in bed by 4 pm.. which sometimes I am!

(1,965 posts)I don't think that is unique to the Labs. I had an Airedale that did that. She knew how to tell time and would try to herd us into the kitchen or the bedroom, depending on the time.
