...didn't have a dog get sprayed... had a little brother and his friend try and sneak up on a skunk. Yeah, it turned out as expected.

And the best part: we shared a room.

Had a golden lab that played tag with a skunk and came home stinking.

Three large cans of tomato juice got rid of the fragrance then a dish soap wash down.

My in-laws had a black lab who was sprayed more than once. My beloved granddog is also a black lab. They live in town and she has yet to meet a skunk, just waiting.

....NOT V-8, tomato juice.

And the truth is: No matter what you use, and no matter how many times you bathe, there is always an amount of residual skunk essence that only goes away with time. You can moderate it, you can mitigate it, but you can't erradicate it.

Always amazed me that a roadkill skunk leaves a smelly haze in the air days and days after...

They just seem to go together. And I agree - labs and skunks must have a special affinity for one another. (Zeus Dog is a black lab)

After the peroxide, baking soda, and Dawn detergent mix treatment, I rub Zeus down with an essential oil blend called Purification. Goes a long way to rid the dog and house of the residual skunk aroma.

Skunks are kind of cute, though. Especially baby skunks.

And what is it about labs and skunks? Did they evolve together to give skunks something to do?
