So as some of you have been following. I have 3 kitty furbabies. Actual Litter Brothers Brooklyn and Manhattan and (adopted) sister Mollie.
So Mollie and Manny are still doing the hissing and swatting at each other.
Here is the Thing. Manny is up in the main portions of the house a lot more. Sleeping in beds (kitty beds and cubbies) He is letting me pet him a whole lot more In FACT today he laid on the couch beside me and allowed me to pet him and he started to need me.
Now the issue is Brooklyn. He does come up and eat. He will explore when I am home and he will only explore when Hubby is sleeping or at the other end of the house. BUT he won't stay upstairs. He is running to the safe place under the steps. Now ( past week) he is actually meowing this awful meow where I thought he was hurt. He was he is trying to get Manny downstairs.
Brook is getting braver he actually jumped up onto the bed while I was on it and explored hubby's nightstand before jumping off.
We still can't touch Brooklyn and I don't know how we are going to get him to a vet. They are all about due for yearly exam. We also notice that sometimes Brooklyn isn't coving his poo and he is always going in the corner of the box.
I like to think he is happy. He plays with Manny. They rough house like crazy. But he still sleeps downstairs. ( we have ranch style. Make uses part of the basement as a man cave.)

(23,720 posts)I rescued a 4 month old kitten about 11 years ago. The first year she was all cuddly, fall asleep in my lap, let me pet her. Gradually she began to not want to be in my lap or let me pet her. But she sleeps every night on the bed, she demands to be brushed multiple times a day and she allows me one "mommy and me" time per day when she'll get in my lap and let me pet her. Never longer than 5 minute, sometimes shorter.
But she is a funny girl. She lets me know when she has to use her litter box. She follow me around meowing until I walk in the bathroom with her where her litter box is. Then she'll do her thing.
If I'm in a another room and she can't see me, she'll howl until I answer her. So I know she's looking for me, and in my mind that means, in whatever cat emotions there are, she cares about me.
I also have friends who have cats that are playful, (I've wasted more money on cat toys) snuggly and affectionate. Others that have absolutely hellions and antisocial cats.
It will take time for your furballs to fully acclimates, some longer than others. They have to learn they are safe and secure.
Good luck to you all and I hope you all are together for many, many years.
BTW, how's the new job going?

(816 posts)call me crazy I just worry about Brooklyn in that basement. It is nice now and hubby uses the one section as a man cave but I worry that he feels we are forcing him down there or that he is unhappy.
