Poor baby girl! My old gals holiday has been turned upside down!
Saturday I noticed that she was licking her backside quite a bit went to look and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Sunday morning same thing. Took a warm cloth and pressed it up against her booty and when removed BLOOD. I just knew it was an infected anal gland. Called my vet...closed. Consulted with emergency vet and figured the price of one more day would not kill her. Fed her some pumpkin puree and took her to the vet this morning.
One infected anal gland treated along with a very stern lecture from my vet. She's gained 12 pounds since I've had her!!! Whaaat? She has no free bowl.. she eats a cup of food twice a day. Now, I will admit that she loves some milk bones but they are not many but she loves a few when I get home from work along with my Boston. We've been walking although the daily walks haven't been daily for a while due to weather and working hours. I'm actually shocked... she was thin when I rescued her. My vet just about had a field day with me! UGH! He did atleast remark that he teeth and coat were in excellent shape ( I brush them BOTH regularly )
Anyway, tonight she's on antibiotics and pain meds. Poor booo boo... she's had a rougher day than her MAMA has!

(9,839 posts)(late, great) Lady on https://www.nutro.com/natural-dog-food/nutro/dry/adult-lite-weight-loss-lamb-rice-recipe.aspx when she got a bit porky. She liked it and it helped us keep her weight at a healthy level. She also had issues with her anal glands and we started putting a pinch of Miralax in her canned food. It helped a lot.

(17,047 posts)to make sure she dosen't have some other issue. But yes, she's getting ready to go on weight management food. My poor baby... She's fluffy and old.. but I need to watch that weight gain. I don't want her to develop arthritis or some other issue ( more anal gland ) issues because of weight.
Feeling like such a crappy MOM right now.
