Hero Dog Saves His Owner By Dialing 911When Terry McGlade collapsed from a seizure, his rescue dog Major knew just what to do he grabbed the phone out of McGlades pockets with his teeth and stepped on the screen for several seconds, automatically dialing 911.
I probably would have been in severe trouble if he wouldnt have called, says McGlade, who told ABC6 that the dog had actually never been trained to call 911.
Though no one could explain the situation on the call to 911, the dispatcher got the message. It sounded like a confused male, Im not really sure whats going on there, the dispatcher can be heard saying on the 911 recording.
When the police arrived, Major was waiting out front to bring them to his unconscious owner.
McGlade, who is a United States Marine, was injured by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. Two years ago, he adopted Major, a lab and pit bull mix mutt, who is trained to sense seizures coming on and help McGlade with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Right now hes my world because hes basically an extension to my body, says McGlade. I dont think I could operate in the every day world without him right now.

Good on Major!

(34,476 posts)Basement where the old water heater was beginning to fizz water. If I hadnt discovered it until my usual wake up hour we would have had a flooded basement or worse.
That cat was considerate and NEVER woke me up. I thought at first he was especially hungry so I followed him to the kitchen and instead he wanted me to go to the basement.
He was the best cat who ever lived. Beautiful ragdoll mix. Loved everyone, including fosters. I still miss him after losing him to cancer 8 years ago.
