Foxes are wild animals and ultimately do not make good pets.
Sure, they're cute and can bond to a person or family somewhat if "tamed" (because the process of taming ensures they never really emotionally grow up), but they are very destructive if indoors because it's their instinct to chew and dig dens...
The generations of "taming" it took for both dogs and cats to finally become domesticated enough to share living quarters in a genetic sense is still pretty tentative.

The cubs should have gone to a wildlife rehabilitator. And yes, while I go "ooooh" and "awwww" when I see foxes, (because they're my spirit animal), I still would refuse to have one in the house.
