Born today. Standard poodle, not certain the colors yet but a phantom male likely black and tan but it remains to be seen. He is the little guy in the front with the blue collar. His litter name is Jasper but here he will be called Ozzy.

(34,103 posts)She just gave birth to 8 puppies I think she looks tired not unhappy. I know these dogs and the owners, believe me when I tell you they are not abused.

(34,103 posts)I don't know what she uses. Each puppy, this is our second from Pampered Poodles, gets it's own web page that is there forever. Whenever I want to send Barb photos I either post them on FaceBook or send them to her and she adds them.
In a few weeks they will get more substantial collars with little dangles. She runs a wonderful operation there. 12 standards in her home, they are her pets and they live in the house just like they would if there was only one. This mama belongs to one of her sons. She breeds them for several years and unless they are supremely happy having puppies she has them spayed and they live with her the rest of their lives. If she does not sell a puppy for any reason or if one does not work out in a home she keeps them for the rest of their lives. Getting our first from her was quite a deal. I spent a good deal of time answering questions etc. and sent in a long form before we were OKed. I will always go back to her because she knows her stuff but mainly because the woman has the kindest operation I have ever seen. She loves each and every one of her dogs and would stand in front of a train for them. I am now friends with her, we talk a lot and am pretty good friends with some of our first Spoos litter mates Moms
Thanks uppityperson! I am terribly excited. I could never have enough animals, I find such joy in them and they have kept me alive through every horrible episode of my life. I owe them all nothing but kindness and love and fun. As long as I can take good care of them I will have them around.
Sorry, I am on a puppy high right now......I could go on and on........but I already did

MuseRider
(34,103 posts)What on earth kind of doggie did you get? A big one apparently I love big doggies. I will have to look around and see your pictures, I am certain there are some here.

(11,065 posts)Great big bear-dog puppy-wuppy.
I always loved big dogs best. More of them to love (and hog the bed). LOL!
MuseRider
(34,103 posts)I have always enjoyed big dogs too. I like all dogs but the big ones maybe because I live on a farm and I can see them over the grass
uppityperson
(115,677 posts)That happened really fast.
MuseRider
(34,103 posts)when your puppy was small. Oh my, what a cutie. Sounds to me like you exhausted yourself to provide what was needed for a pup that young. Good job. It can be trying but well worth it as I am certain you already know. Adorable, big now but I bet still adorable

ps...I don't think mom looks sad at all. I think she's beautiful.
MuseRider
(34,103 posts)She is small and sweet looking even moments after birth and has the pinkest nose and face! Sweet babies.

(9,958 posts)Standard poodles are so cool and smart, and Momma has a beautiful face.

(34,103 posts)My youngest had a girlfriend with a standard that I fell in love with. They are nothing like what I thought. Ours, from this same breeder, is the most wonderful dog. We have had tons of wonderful dogs of different breeds, all bright and fun and loving but there is just something very different about the standard poodle. We can't define it but it was enough to think ahead and get this one, this makes 4 dogs for us, so that our youngest who is the standard will have another around when the two older dogs cross the bridge.
I love this MaMa. She has the most gorgeous dogs. None of them are groomed for show or shown. They swim daily in the lake by her kayak or go out on the poodle pontoon and swim. They hunt and play.
OnyxCollie
(9,958 posts)Kinda sucks that if you want to show them, they have to have the silly haircut.
MuseRider
(34,103 posts)I am learning to groom poodles only for myself because it is a little expensive to have it done, even just a shave and with two it will just be easier. Here on the farm she is out in the woods with us, among the grasses etc and just gets covered in burs and ticks and various sticky things. Not to mention the pond smell because she is always wet, LOVES the water. I just shave her down and let her grow in the winter. Those silly cuts are historical, something I found fascinating since I always thought it was just silly show stuff but not possible with this life.
As I get better I will cut differently. Right now I am just learning. I think this little boy will endup with a 'stache and a goatee.

(34,103 posts)One of my sons thought it would be fun to get a white one and do that jelly bean dying job. I admit to having a hankering to tinker like that but am really too lazy to do it. As long as the dog is OK with all that, and poodles seem to have it in their genes to like grooming thankfully, I say go for it. Still, I am too lazy and I can't imagine the sorts of branches that could be attached to a coat like that.

Poppa is also a standard poodle?
MuseRider
(34,103 posts)The daddy is a big Parti Standard Poodle.
Lexie is a very silly girl but also very noble. Our little guy will be a phantom like his mom but we don't yet know the colors. He will be black and something We don't really care but I did want a phantom or a black. It is a technicolor litter.

(34,103 posts)Watching him nurse, he is a go getter! He will be fun and most likely trouble when we get him home in 7 weeks. Of course we would not want him any other way.

(68,918 posts)Puppy tails are the best! Congrats Muse!
MuseRider
(34,103 posts)They also have really cute ears. Before all that hair starts growing they look like little rubber flaps.

(3,231 posts)I have a new litter too! My pups were born on Cinco De Mayo - they are so cute. Nothing better than little baby puppies!
MuseRider
(34,103 posts)Did you post pics? I looked but must have missed them if you did. What kind? Puppies are so fun.

(13,460 posts)Oh so adorable! Momma's got such a sweet face too.
Your baby has such a CUTE LITTLE BUTT!
Oh Squeeeeeee!
MuseRider
(34,103 posts)but I do get it.......SQUEEEEEEEE is the correct response
Doesn't she have a beautiful face? She is a fun dog apparently and I should be aware that her puppies are spontaneous combusters (I was told this today). Apparently they will be laying there one moment and running at full speed in circles the next. We have wood floors and this will be dog number 4. Now the cats may not care for this but it sounds like loads of fun to me

(13,460 posts)I have experienced something like that, we have a Border Collie mix, LOL!
Standard poodles are smart, lovely, and sweet. She should be fun to train.

(18,219 posts)Then I met a standard who was playing with two labs....playing in a lake, running around, and keeping up with the labs all the way. I got a respect for that breed after knowing this really tough dog. So...it is just the haircut that makes the dog look so silly and air-headed. I like the cut on mom!!!
I am happy for you and your new family member!
MuseRider
(34,103 posts)I thought the same way. My sons girlfriends standard poodle was the coolest dog ever! It was never the same for us after that. So we got Caldonia who is 1 1/2 and yes, she keeps up with and can kick our old labs butt when she wants to retrieving in the ponds. She is a screamer off the dock and flys through the air. She is athletic and funny and sweet as can be and scary smart.
One more can't hurt right?

(34,103 posts)It is so hard to do anything else, I leave my computer on puppy cam so I can walk by and watch them as the squirm around. If there was sound on that thing I would be lost.
