(22,474 posts)Well....I did make an exception last summer for a fawn. Just adore deer! You'll appreciate the absurdity of this: I never totally weaned him! He still gets a small breakfast bottle and nightcap! He loves it, I love it, everyone loves it...and the game warden will never know! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love your heart!

(28,117 posts)Getting close to housebreaking age. Look at those long legs!
Very cute babies. Looks as if the poor little chocolate kid has an eye issue going on.
Names yet?

(21,709 posts)I have meds to put in the eye from the vet. I leave it up to their adopters to housebreak. Names are Bailey, Guiness, and Jamison

(51,567 posts)it was the best time and I have the best memories from when I did it in college for cats, dogs, puppies and kittens in Phila. The Morris Animal Refuge is fantastic and was across the street from my house. Every year they have the annual "Fur Ball".

(736 posts)look at GuideDogs.com and help by raising guide dog puppies, or just being a puppy sitter. Us puppy raisers can only leave our pups with Guide Dog puppy sitters when we go on vacation (or even out for the day). So we LOVE guide dog puppy sitters.
It's a chance to have puppies in your life all the time, if you want them, without the burden of Vet bills, needing to find kennels, or the other responsibilities that come with having a full-time pooch.
And, in the end, you're doing a great thing for blind people!
Guide Dogs for the Blind is only in the Western U.S. If you live elsewhere (east of Colorado/Texas), find a guide dog group near you and volunteer to help out! The puppies will love you to pieces!

(15,533 posts)I raised two puppies that went on to become guide dogs and I volunteered at the school for eleven years. It was one of the most rewarding volunteer opportunities that I have done. However, it was also a tremendous amount of work as most puppies are. I always said that you get them for the best part of their life and the worst. The best is that they are so darned cute at 6 weeks old when you get them and you have to housebreak them and train them with the rules and guidelines of the school. They come into your lives and hearts and then at 13 months you have to give them back.
Still, a very rewarding experience.

(2,747 posts)I fall in love too easily. If I were to foster these puppies I couldn't let them go.

(507 posts)I really hope to get a larger dog. Right now, two fur-babies One to be 14 this July, other turned 4 this past December. Old fella not even 20lbs, and the 4 yr old barely over 5lbs. But when you live in the City, in a less than 1000sq ft home, 2 dogs can fill up a house fast!
Hoping to move further away from the crowds of the City and hustle and bustle of all of this traffic. Maybe, just maybe, I'll give in and go find me a Rescue that's a bit larger. I'm a total push-over for any pets. How I ended up with these two!
So gorgeous!!!!!!!
We have black lab mixes, I've always wanted a chocolate lab. New we are at the stage of life when ours are gone, it will senior dogs and smaller dogs. We're too old for puppies, but damn, they are adorable.

(21,709 posts)You only have them for a limited period of time (until they turn 8 weeks) and you get your puppy fix.
