they do strange things.
They each have a raised stand with bowls for water and food. The food bowls are white and the water bowls are stainless. For some unknown reason, they will both drink from only one of the water bowls. I can wash them at the same time and fill them at the same time and it does not seem to matter. They will lick one bowl dry and ignore the other. I cannot remember how long this has gone on.
Then...last week...
they switched bowls. NOW they will only drink out of the other water bowl.
It's not that I care. But when you hear the dry slurping sound because they have run out of water in the one bowl but refuse to go one foot away to the other bowl, you gotta wonder!

they have made slaves out of us at times so there's that.

Little dickens!
That's what I'm talking about. In my case, they lick and clang and then glare at us. GO TO THE OTHER BOWL! I say. But they want me to get up and get more for that bowl.

(16,990 posts)If that one is empty, instead of going to another bowl of fresh water, she just pushes the empty one off the windowsill, usually in the middle of the night.

(16,990 posts)Prednisone is a steroid and it makes you thirsty. As a result, she will drink every drop of water I put out. My vet said that a dog her size only really needs 12 cups a day, so I make sure she gets that and then I cut both of them off around 9:00 p.m., so they don't have to go out all night. Still, I get up with them around 2:30 a.m., sharp and 5:30 a.m. Sigh. I don't mind, though. I know there will come a time when I miss her so much.

(16,990 posts)Thankfully, it's only $50 a pop. I feel lucky it is treatable and she is quite happy.

(2,243 posts)I had a cat on steroids for a few years. His big thing was deciding that as Kitty on Steroids, he didn't need to cover up anything in his litter box anymore.
I thought that was kind of bad, but the cat I have now *compulsively* covers things up, like for 15-20 minutes. It drives me crazy at night. I don't know who he thinks is going to come around and know that he was there.
