I've an adolescent puppy dog. Oh my.

I had to go online and read about 6 month old pups because this last week has been something. She suddenly runs amok, in fast circles, not listening, hyper hyper hyper.

She looks at me blankly when I ask her to do any of the tricks she's been doing. "Shake? What in the world is that?"

Run run chew chew, "what, who, me?".

Then plop, asleep and so sweet. Then wakey and again so sweet. Until she gets going again but wait! There was a noise! Outside! It might be something....scary!

All in all, right on track from what I read. At least she can't drive a car.

Though I adopted my pup at five months, and he just turned six years, I'm still waiting, LOL. We've been to doggy class twice, and that did make a difference, as long as I can get his attention. Well, I am exaggerating, just a little. He no longer chews and he tires more easily if he gets enough exercise. He's snoozing next to me on the couch as I type this. And he still likes to cuddle...

I think you just have a normal puppy...

But can she ride a bike?

Wonder what that noise was!

I can just see your little baby .... running around acting crazy and then plop, fast asleep. A little demon into a little angel.

This post is no good without pictures.

That was about the age that my husband's new leather chair was mistaken for a gigantic rawhid toy The chair is long gone, and we still have the dog, now 2 years old and very well-mannered.

Hang on and just train, train, train! Sometimes it has seemed that Layla just wasn't catching onto what I was trying to teach her then BOOM she gets it.

Boy did that puppy shred that chair........

It's cute most of the time but it's exhausting. And it really sucks that they'll chew up anything whether it fits in their mouth or not. They also get clever at this age and start figuring out how to make mischief quietly and fast as lighting so all it takes is turning your back on them for a few seconds and BAM!... they ate the sofa. Try petting them and they eat your hands... try walking and they eat your ankles... try turning your back on them and they goose your butt... wretched little unapologetic mischief makers.

Mine just turned a year old and still acts like a nutball. He'll chase his tail till he crashes into something or falls down. He'll throw his toys up in the air and instead of trying to catch them lets them bash him in the face before grabbing the toy and doing it again (what is THAT all about?). He poops or pees in the yard and is so thrilled about it he has to do a few victory laps around the yard... "yeah! I pooped!" He'll lay under the canopy at the door until it starts to rain and then goes out in the yard and lays in the rain getting soaked. He stalks and attacks his own feet when he's bored with me watching a movie that has no horses in it (if there were horses in it he'd be sitting right smack in front of the tv trying to figure out how to get the horses out of the tv). Now that he's shedding in great clumps when I brush them out he rolls all over the hair pile trying to put the hair back on. Yeah, he's acting like more of a loony than when he was a little puppy. And it's likely to last for at least another year. I'm doomed (but I laugh a lot).

About driving the car... I'm not so sure that they don't. They're so clever and sneaky I actually wouldn't be surprised if they swiped the keys while I'm asleep and went joyriding all over the neighborhood with all their doggie neighborhood friends! LOL!

It's incredible how fast they grow. They never outgrow the cuteness though, and yours is such a cutie-pie!

Ok, how do you keep all the hair on the dog and off the couch? I don't see even a single dog hair on your couch!

Excersize definintely helps. Thank goodness for the little girl next door... she's the only creature on the planet that can exceed his energy level, and she loves to get him chasing her up and down and up and down the fence that divides our yards. I love it when she plays a lot of energy out of him. Though long after he's pooped out she's still going... she's like the energizer bunny, and just watching her zoom around is exhausting.
