*if puppy is ill at ease, take a few days or however long and "shear*without the shearer. My pom was a basket case the first time I shaved her...jumpy, snappy. So...I deferred the job and substituted love sessions. She liked being petted, scratched and massaged, so I made the shavers buzz sound with my mouth every time my hand was on her doing her favorite things. Go all over puppy, buzzing and petting! I can't remember, but we probably progressed from there to my actually turning on the clipper, but still doing the love things with my hand. Let me tell you, for the rest of her long life, I did all her grooming and she always acted like she was at the spa....she LOVED being shaved!
