Our beautiful little gray, 19 year-old feline barnyard stray passed away last night in my arms. She had been slowing down lately but was ok when I went to work yesterday morning. She didn't come out for dinner and I knew something was wrong. I found her lying in the bath tub and quickly got her out, put a blanket on my lap and set her on it. She started to purr, looked up at me and breathed her last.
I'm devastated but mostly for my husband. Sophie was really Chuck's cat. He has been away from the house for a year now--he's been in and out of hospitals and nursing homes and I don't know if he will ever be able to come home. Complications from 53 years of being a Type I Diabetic. I have decided not to tell him because I am afraid of what this will do to him. The problem is she always talks to him when he calls or if I call. She had this distinctive purring chirp that was all Sophie. I'll just tell him she's sleeping when she calls.
Well, I guess that's it. Thanks for listening.
