(3,840 posts)We're going to build one to attach to our deck. No more dead birds or little animals. Not that I let them out on purpose, they are escape artists.

(1,343 posts)Wouldn't dare let my own two kitties view this video!!! They are both indoor felines but are sometimes let out onto the deck (enclosed glass all around and one story up) but for cats, that's never enough!
CurtEastPoint
(19,906 posts)They are out there all day and night! They get into the house via the laundry room window. And inside, I have a lockable door w/a cat door that goes into the kitchen. So all day and night, they are secure and so am I!
It is so delightful to look out there and see them 'lounging.' I just love it and so do they!

As it is for the moment, I am thankful for the kitty who lives next door and comes to see me every day. He's a ten pound kitten with a need for lots of affection. Between his human and me, he has it made!

(1,940 posts)a raging "keep your cats indoors" VS "let them roam free" battle - like on our local Nextdoor forum. Some cats adjust quite well to a life totally indoors, but others - esp. those adopted from a shelter who have known outdoors - can suffer behavior problems and stress disorders from confinement. My backyrd enclosure is only about 20 x 30 but its made TOTAL difference in the life of my former free range kitty. All he needed was a small piece of his own yard - he didnt need to be roaming around the entire neighborhood. Cat rolling on the ground with belly up to the sun - PRICELESS!

(4,345 posts)this built on my patio. And it just so happens I have been imagining plans so that I can make it happen. It won't be elaborate like yours but it will allow my new rescue cats to be in and outside.

(9,182 posts)We built one last summer and dare I say, Best Idea Ever! We used a fair amount of scrap lumber so it was pretty cheap and it's smaller than yours but then, we only have 8 cats.
