You know you love your pet when you start up the AC for them, even though you HATE AC

Michigan is going through an awful heatwave, right now. It's been in the mid, heading to the high, 90's, and will continue, like this, for the whole week.

I am very sensitive to AC - I had to wear sweaters every day at work and wear one when I go shopping, in the Summer. I'm constantly going in and out of the house to do yard and garden work and AC can make the temperature shock feel harsh. So, I prefer using fans or sitting in the shade. But I noticed Sophie Stinky Toes just seemed uncomfortable and a little heat stressed, yesterday. She's terrified of the world outside of the house so taking her out with me isn't a option. The fans weren't giving her enough relief. So, I blocked off the bottoms of all interior doors, closed the windows, set the temperature at a comfortable level, and flipped the switch.

Hopefully the outside temperatures will normalize, soon, because I have no idea how expensive running AC is, compared to running heat. Oh well, I figure the money I'm not spending on food can be reallocated to the electric bill. And Sophie does seem much happier, alert and much more active, today. She's been a real treasure during my self-isolation so what ever I can do to make her comfortable, will be done.

I have a lot more trouble with the humidity, so I set my AC on 80 during the day, and turn on fans to circulate. I think it’s perfect.

When hubs gets home at 4, he turns it down to 74. I have to get under a blanket.

I admit that I was uncomfortable, at times, yesterday and Thursday is forecast to be 98. This morning I opened all of the doors and windows (I was up at 4:30) to bring down the indoor temperature as much as possible. Then when the heat started to build, outside, I closed everything up, again. I'm going forego any yard and garden work, for now, to avoid cool air escaping while I go in and out of the house. However, I will maintain my afternoon habit of reading and enjoying a cold glass of Chardonnay, sitting beneath the canopy of my 'air conditioned' Maple tree. I wish Sophie wasn't so frightened of the outside world because she'd be good company, out there. I think the sights, smells and sounds are just too overwhelming for her.
