Related: About this forumThe new kitten has arrived. She's a fucking menace, man!
So Mrs. Glam brought her home yesterday evening. Beautiful Siamese. White, gray brown tail and ears, faint stripping on her legs, and the palest blue eyes. And huge paws! She gonna be a bigun!
SO I took her at the stairs and carried her to the tv room. Muddy wandered over, hissed, stared for a couple minutes and split. The mighty Zeppelin came along doing his clumsy dog thing. Scared the shit out of her she hissed and batted at him and then he went back to the kitchen hoping mom might drop something on the floor. Honestly, he could care less. Then came the twins. Side by side stalking their way into the room. Ears back, inching forward. Steviewonder was just curious. He kept his distance and just stared. The Beans however, man was she pissed! Hissing, crying, the whole 9 yards. She was so pissed she started chasing the other cats and smacking them around. Poor Bootsy Collins! She kinda does her own thing, not real sociable with the pet humans unless it's in certain places. She didn't even know there was a new cat in the house. She so had this WTF moment on her face when The Beans come at her. "What did I do? Why are you so pissed?"
And the new kitty was just sweet as can be all night. Until I went to sleep. I don't know how many times I was woken up by a sandpaper tongue and sharp, kneading claws. My ears, my face, my nose, my arms, my neck, my ears again...I'd put her down at my feet and no sooner had I pulled up the blanket she was back at it. At one point I had to wrap myself in the blanet like a damn corpse so she'd leave me alone and go back to sleep. An hour later? Rinse, repeat all night!
Today, she's been with me all day in the office. She's been licking my hands while typing or using the mouse, sitting/laying in between me and the keyboard and brushing the touch pad screwing up what I'm working on. Climbing up to sit on my shoulder. At one point I was on the phone and she literally sat up and hugged me...while licking my neck of course.
She's a menace!

(22,035 posts)Siamese are the best! Even with all the other cats we have, I still miss my Cisco.
So what's the young'un's name?

(11,794 posts)Whith her white coat and pale blue eyes we were gonna call her Johnni Winter. But it doesn't feel right. Kinda leaning towards Bonnie (as in Bonnie Raitt) or Nancywilson. Also toyed with Etta James and Alice Cooper.....

(205,074 posts)Years ago, when I went to one of her concerts, I met others who were also going in a nearby hotel lobby. And she was apparently staying there and walked right by us. I spoke to her for a minute and my impression was that she's a very tiny person (with a big voice). Maybe that can help you decide.

(86,502 posts)Sounds like family unity among the feline crowd!
She'll figure out your normal routines and adapt to them, most of the Siamese girls I've lived with do. They are more trainable than the average domestic, I've found so you might explore that trait and see what happens.

(11,794 posts)It's crazy. Muddy and Steviewonder are basically part dog, but this one takes the cake!

(5,111 posts)Kiki is so chill and people pleasing. I always joke that we could dress her up like a baby and put her in a stroller and she wouldnt mind one bit!

(11,794 posts)I expect she'll back off a bit once she's accustomed to the rest of the tribe and her suroundings. But I'm betting it won't be much...

(7,473 posts)My kitty still wakes me in the AM at 3. Taps, snuggles, whatever.
She needs company. At night, at 9PM she tells me it is time for bed.
I have a church near me that bells every hour. I swear this cat can count. 3 bells, time to get up, 9 bells, bedtime.
She is a sweetheart,.. You will get used to the actions of hour kitty as she gets used to you.
P.S, Get some kitty nail clippers. I can tolerate anything my kitty does but the kneading with those toenails is not one of my favorite experiences.

(9,819 posts)from his mama and brought into county animal control facility. He was bitey and kept trying to get to my skin. I tried to divert his attention with food or toys, but it was obvious that he wanted to nurse. He finally settled for nursing on the rim of the cat bed. He would knead his paws and suckle on the furry fabric just as he did on his mother, purring like a motor. I hope he will outgrow it.
I had a Maine Coon that nursed on bedspread fringe for most of his life, and a siamese that liked to suck on human fingers, toes, earlobes. It's just like thumb-sucking. Hope your kitty out-grows it.
It won't be cute for very long!

(28,787 posts)was a siamese kitten i had when i was very young. she would get up on your chest and lick your throat as long as you kept on petting her. She also opened doors with her paws. i always sought out siamese kittens after that, but now in my old age I'm over the catbox and have become a total dog person.

(20,571 posts)One my kitties - about 5 years old but one year in the household, does the same thing at night. I cover my face with the sheet, fall back asleep and wake up gasping for air and then she is back. It's funny, she is not big on showing affection during the day because that is play time. Nighttime she sleeps on my head when she isn't licking my face!
