Related: About this forumAnother foster gone in the morning
Our little calico girl is off to her new home in the morning. Back in June, she was a tiny hissy feral kitten with ear mites and smelly digestive issues. In two months, Ive turned her into a lovable (and somewhat spoiled), healthy, spayed older kitten all ready for a new home. Its rewarding work, but its so hard to let go. I have one little boy left and I think Ill keep him.

(4,516 posts)The newest is a 5lb chihuahua. The cat is happy to have a playmate her own size. The longer they stay, the harder it is getting over it. But we know its for a good cause and if you don't let one go, you can't help the next one.

(4,168 posts)Over the years we've taken in and tamed several feral kittens that we kept. They turned from hissing furballs to friendly, companionable house cats.
The last stray kitten I took in off the street was supposed to be a foster. My wife had said "Enough!" and I promised we would only keep this one long enough to get her ready for adoption. Such a cute black-and-white cat, no problem finding a home for her!
Unfortunately, she turned out to be too cranky to put up for adoption. So now we've got yet another cat (much to my wife's dismay) who isn't a particularly nice cat and is quick to scratch or bite if she is displeased.

(2,042 posts)I have a friend who fosters dogs and we meet with my pup for playtime. I fall in love with each and every one of them and miss them after theyre adopted, I dont know how she does it. I mean, actually, I do. Because each one that goes make a space to save another one.
Its a wonderful thing to do and those who do it have my everlasting admiration
