Authorities have identified households with pet dogs and are forcing them to give them up or forcefully confiscating them and putting them down.

4. I kind of doubt this.

It was an anonymous source to a South Korean paper. South Korea has a well oiled industry for exaggerating stories about the north. Normally defectors are well paid to appear on the news and through other media, telling an exaggerated story to keep the South Korean people torqued off at the North. If it’s an ANONYMOUS source, then it’s super suspect. It would only be a defector, at best, or a storyteller at worst. The defectors who play this game generally are happy for the face time, so likely they’d hide their identity because this was a major whopper. If it’s someone from the South Korean government, it’s probably nonsense.

Kim Jong Un is a dick. But I still appreciate the truth, not babies-thrown-out-of-incubators-dying-on-a-Kuwaiti-hospital-floor style propaganda.
