Related: About this forumI need a toy for my little chihuahua who has become sooo needy and is constantly up my ass!
OK I love the little shit but he won't fetch. I have to pick up the little squirrels, (he only likes really little stuffed animals that he can make squeak) throw them, he plays a little bit, I throw some more he plays a little bit, then I have to go pick them up and start throwing again.
I bought both of them these cute fluffy beds to go on the couch with me and he will sit in his and whine until I let him next to me, which is where he is most of the time. He will also do this thing where he will jump down and come over by my side of the couch and whine so I let him up so he can sit on me again. And if I put him over on his bed after a couple minutes he does the same thing.
My back hurts, all my joints hurt. I just don't feel so great today and I've just gotten over a bad illness. Plus, I feel bad because everytime I move he is jolted because I forget he is there.
Can't he just play by himself sometimes???
Paco:
Paco with Peanut who gives me no trouble now but if she finds me alone, (usually in the middle of the night she runs to me so she can get some attention! Then we have our "alone time" without You Know Who whining!
I see some big ball toys that supposedly move but he doesn't play with big toys. I am wondering how he would gt on with one of those fish that cats like.

(57,073 posts)As soon as he picks up the one you tossed, hold up the other one & he might well learn to retrieve.
My Pittie doesn't fetch either, but I'm trying to teach him.
Apparently, they forget they are holding one when they see us holding a 2nd one and the inadvertently return the 1st one.
Sorry to hear you are in pain. Healing vibes on the way!

Maraya1969
(22,506 posts)or peanut butter instead of just treats.
I'm telling you neither of my dogs are Rin Tin Tin intellect wise.
Maybe I could try again with something he could just lick instead of actually getting an item out of

(22,577 posts)It around sniffing...eventually a kibble falls out one of the toys holes and puppy learns that playing will be rewarded.

(22,506 posts)could learn something new. They used to play together but Paco is too rough with her. She would play with him if I was around and they were on the couch.
Actually I could foster a dog and see if he plays with the foster dog. He always tries to play with dogs on the street!

(6,659 posts)And her very own blanket. She loves to be completely covered up with it.

(22,506 posts)in bed they will sleep there all night.
If I get up because I can't sleep Peanut will get up, come down the dog stairs and up to me on the couch. Then after a few minutes Paco will start wining again because he can't get down by himself. So I go pick him up and we start all over.

(32,729 posts)Grabs it when ever he jumps in bed. Have bought him several different ones and he loves em all, but his favorite is the large one, almost as big as him.

(22,506 posts)heartbeat. He always want to get on the heating pad when I bring it out.
Maybe if I just get the heating pad and put it in his bed??????
>>>>>>>>>>>>>running to get the heating pad.

(65,490 posts)always cold & shivery. He probably needs your body heat.
My Mom used to carry our Chihuahua around all the time. Tiny sat on Mom's "shelf"--her very large bosom.

(22,506 posts)since. I think you are right, it is not me it is my heat!
Even though I live in FL I keep the AC down low because of the asthma problems.
And Paco has less fur than Peanut. When I got him at Animal Control he didn't even have fur on him belly. They said he was flea infested and it just fell out after treatment I guess.
Thanks for telling me that.

(65,490 posts)the sling, that will satisfy him. It would also allow you to give peanut some attention.

(51,636 posts)such things. She loved to be held and needed to know where I was every minute. Hug your babies all the time while you can. She was fast, smart and alert up until the end. She was the sweetest, softest dog I have ever met. She still loved to bark at a plastic rat and chase her cat size tennis balls up until she died.
She had changed her toy preferences throughout her life. I still have the ones she had as a puppy with all the stuffing shoved back inside 1,000 times. She went through a period of only wanting old socks with pieces of Pupperoni Sticks in them and knotted. I would hide it in a blanket which she always found and dragged it across the room (about 14 lbs vs her 7 lbs) then she would spend 30 min chewing through the sock to get to the treats. She also used to get pieces of her dog food and leave it next to her stuffed animals strewn around the apt. One day she had put all of her stuffed animals into a pile under the table and kept bringing more dog food to "her babies".
God, I miss her 24/7.

Thanks for understanding.

(18,672 posts)And turn on the heat in the early morning. Heat or a chance to sunbathe draws them away, LOL. She is still needy, but I get a little break now and then.
Maraya1969
(22,506 posts)had to say. And he hasn't moved since! He is under the blanket and probably feeling very cosy and warm and safe.
I can't believe it took me this long to figure him out. Thanks to all Du'ers!

(18,672 posts)You'd think they'd be warm enough in the summer heat, but when you have AC on or the temperature is below 80, those little Chihuahuas start to get cold! I leave her blanket on all the time. It was one that didn't cost much but she loves it! I also have blankets in the corner of the couch just for her to snuggle in as well as in the dog bed that doesn't have the electric blanket.
Oddly enough, my other dog can't stand heat at all, so I have a chillow on the bathroom floor by the tub where he likes to lay to cool off.
