Petco will stop selling electronic 'shock' collars

By Alicia Wallace, CNN Business

San Francisco (CNN Business)Petco announced Tuesday that it will no longer sell electronic collars, aka "shock" collars, the first major pet products chain to pull the items from its stores and online.

Animal rights groups have long opposed use of the collars, arguing that they cause animals distress.
The move comes as part of a broader corporate transformation of Petco, which is seeking to establish itself as a health and wellness brand. The company on Tuesday announced it would rebrand in 2021 as "Petco, The Health + Wellness Co."

good trainers know how to use them.
unless they are talking about the bark collars. those are just abusive, and used by the kind of ppl who shouldnt have dogs.

they prolly only sold shitty ones anyway. but i have a dog that i was ready to give up on. i got him a GOOD collar from leerburg, and sent him to a pro trainer to get him started.
he just was not getting verbal commands, esp the word no.
a good collar can give a zap, strong enough to stop a dog in full freak out. but it also give a variable tingle that works like a warning. and buzz w no shock that says yes when they get it right.

turned him around and i have never had a better, smarter dog. he is an almost supernatural guardian.

animal rights ppl make me nuts.
