We got Happy to the vet today. We've been fighting fleas in this house, and it appears that he is allergic to the fleas (which is not uncommon in cats).
Unfortunately, Happy is never very happy when he's at the vet. In fact, he's decidedly aggressive and even violent. I did warn the vet about this when we made the appointment, but they insisted on a "let's see" approach.
Well, wouldn't you know? They couldn't do a proper exam on him because he pitched a fit. So they prescribed a sedative and rescheduled. After telling us that they accept Care Credit, Al went to pay for the pills w/ the card and they said they only accept it for charges over $200.
?????? They did not tell us that when we asked.
I would have called a different vet if our card was going to be an issue. This card is the only way we can afford to get him seen. I have a call back into the office. If they're not going to accept the card, we have to go w/ a different vet. I told them as much. We have no other way to pay for the visit.

(38,554 posts)The sedative came to about $12.50 (for 2 pills). His exam has been rescheduled for Monday afternoon. But I'm waiting for their office to call me back as to whether or not we're going to be allowed to use the card.

(38,554 posts)If they haven't called me back within the next hour (the receptionist told me she would talk to the manager and get back to me) I'm going to call them.

(500 posts)With shorter term financing options of 6, 12, 18 or 24 months no interest is charged on purchases of $200 or more when you make the minimum monthly payments and pay the full amount due by the end of the promotional period. If you do not, interest is charged from the original purchase date
It looks to me that the minimum to get an interest free installment is $200.
There is no reason they should not accept the card itself that i can find.

(23,313 posts)or a % of the transaction for anything under $200 to CC. I worked at a dental office where we offered CC plans for patients. That's been a few years but there were some instances where we had to pay a % of the transaction to CC. I don't recall the actual amount but it was slightly higher than credit card percentages so we tried to avoid it whenever possible.

(1,979 posts)There are so many flea meds on the market. I have a dog boarding and training facility ( also six dogs and 2 cats in residence) and insist on everyone protected. I haven't seen a flea in years. Get good meds from your vet and make yourself and Happy happy. Sorry to flea shame but they are horrible!

Got the indoor and outdoor treatments... we needed both. Vacuum every day...I prefer the vial treatments for kitty itself. It can be done!

But we have 4 dogs that go outside every day. So, that's probably how the fleas got in. All sorts of treatments have proven to be ineffective. Fleas are mutating into a tough species.

(57,073 posts)Works here. I have a dog & indoor kitty. Dog was bringing fleas inside, so we got him a collar. Took care of things in time, maybe a few weeks.
Many years ago, I had a dog that was allergic to flea bites. Vet put her on phenolbarbitol, and it worked great, but I don't think they use that anymore.
