(10,749 posts)On a smaller scale, have you seen the story of the lawyer cat in Brazil?
On Instagram: dr_leon_advogato
Stray cat seeks shelter at lawyer's offices when it rains and then stays after the rain stops. Starts greeting all visitors. Others in the building say it's just not appropriate. So the law firm hired him as an official greeter, complete with tie and office badge. And he takes his job seriously. Who knows? Maybe even more seriously than the lawyers themselves. They've now taken on cat rescue activities as well. If I ever need a lawyer in Brazil, this firm is my first stop.

(129,722 posts)and sort of lost it when the Christopher Smart poem about the poet's cat Jeoffry was read. I lost my own cat Jeoffry this summer - he was 14 and passed away suddenly. I named him after that same cat in the Smart poem, Jubilate Agno. "For he is of the tribe of Tiger." And then I lost my other old cat Milo a month later. So I'm calling this service a memorial for my cats, too. What a beautiful thing for the cathedral to have done, and it was so apparent that the verger had especially loved her.
