Still a very difficult time. Grieve deeply.

Take care of each other and know the Mighty Z is among many great kitties in Heaven. People can only get in if there is a loved one before them.
Lots of love to share with the next.
Keep on trucking! ❣️

(100,956 posts)One of the hardest decisions to make but also usually the most kind thing to do when a loved pet is suffering. The landlady had to do that a few months ago with her favorite trail dog. I only knew the dog for year and a half and it made me cry too.

(3,019 posts)I had a dog named Zeppelin too, but we had to put him to sleep last month. He was being overwhelmed by mast celll tumors and neither surgery nor chemo were able to help him. He was A 10 year old Coton de Tulear. And I miss him so much. I put a picture of him near the spot where he always sat and it felt just a tiny bit like he was still here. I havent really been able to talk about it much since then.
It is good that you have someone to help you share your grief with. My husband misses him as much as I do.

(1,291 posts)To my Pipkin, who left us in about same time as yours. It does make me feel better. I havent been able to talk about it much either. She loved clementine oranges so i rotate one into the bowl.
I like hearing peoples pet names and Zeppelin is an awesome one!
Im sure it gets easier. I got to baby sit my daughters cat, last weekend, who used to be my cat. So that was nice. Sending a hug.

(15,383 posts)Losing a pet always hurts, but if they are suffering it is the right thing to do. Its just that the fact it is the right thing doesn't make it any easier at all.

(33,510 posts)I sang love songs so glad
Always smiling, never sad, so fine.
As we walk down a country lane,
I'll be singing a song,
Hear me calling your name.
Hear the whisper in the trees,
Telling Mother Nature 'bout you and me.
Well if the sunshines so bright,
Or on our way it's darkest night
The road we choose is always right, so fine.
So of one thing I am sure,
It's a friendship so pure,
Angels singing all around my door so fine.
Yeah, ain't but one thing to do
Spend my nat'ral life with you,
You're the finest dog I knew, so fine.
We'll still go walking down country lanes,
I'll sing the same old songs,
Hear me call your name.

Glamrock

(12,181 posts)A poor excuse, but there are only so many hours in a day that I can devote to DU, and in the intervening times, threads rise and fall.
Anyone who has lost a pet knows how this feels. Obviously, your pain is unique to you, as is everyone's, but the reasons are all the same. I'm positive your pet had a great life, just from reading your message. Rejoice in that, when the time is right.

(8,542 posts)The Mighty Zeppelin was like DU family.
I'm always heartbroken too when we have to put down one of our cats, but it's especially hard with some. I know that's how it is with Zeppelin.
Eventually I smile instead of cry when I think of them, but it takes a long time.
