Three weeks after disappearing, one missing dog in Alabama showed up in the most surprising of places! June Rountree said she first noticed that her beloved 4-year-old rescue dog was missing on Nov. 8, after going outside and seeing that Abby had gotten out of her leash and collar, according to the Washington Post.
Although Rountree, 60, and her husband reached out to neighbors and the local animal shelter to see if anybody had seen their dog, weeks went by with no news. Then on Nov. 28, during one of Rountrees regular shifts at Walmart, something miraculous happened: Abby walked in.
Although Rountree was initially in disbelief that the dog could be her own, everything clicked once she called Abbys name and the dog came running to her. "I bent over and hugged her. I completely lost it then. I couldnt speak. I was in complete shock and just couldnt believe it," she said.
"Never in a million years did I think she would show up at Walmart," she added. "How she knew I worked there, I do not know. I bent over and hugged her. I completely lost it then. I couldnt speak. I was in complete shock and just couldnt believe it," she said. "Never in a million years did I think she would show up at Walmart," she added. "How she knew I worked there, I do not know."

There's something badly wrong with people who dislike dogs and abuse animals.

(6,544 posts)That is great!
She probably came home smelling like that each day, and the dog caught whiff of it and followed the scent trail. My beagle could track things in 3 dimensions with her nose without ever seeing or knowing what or where something was

(7,632 posts)Whats really weird is how some dogs can know the owner is on the way home no matter when they leave.

(6,080 posts)Three of my dogs escaped my fenced in yard on June 20th this year. I looked and called, advertised all over my neighborhood, went to the county humane society, and on the neighborhood app.
One month later, Lola was found about 5 miles away in a state park. We live next to the Apalachicola forest. Then just these past few weeks neighbors saw Mali about a mile in the other direction.
After several attempts at finding her, she finally came to me just this past Tuesday.
My boy, Harley, is still missing. But I am so grateful for Mali and Lola making it home.

(1,327 posts)People lost their dog while on vacation from not too far away. They had to leave without him. One day the owner was at Lowe's in their town, where he often took the dog to run errands, and in walks the dog through the front doors and found him! It was a big story here because so many people had been looking for the dog.
