Pups at 6 days

Sorry, we've lost a lot of pups. We have 6 pups left, lost 8. Ugh. But these guys seem to be holding their own and are gaining weight.

2. Were their siblings too small and weak

due to having such a large litter? Does the mom know she lost any?

3. 14 was one of the biggest litters I have heard of

Yes, the siblings were too weak to make it. We tried tube feeding them. and they still couldn't get strong enough to make it. And I suspect there were 2 to 3 dads to the litter. Poor Mama.

4. Poor mom, she was left with this burden to

carry all alone. I'm glad you are there to help her, unlike the fathers and previous owner.

10. 2 to 3 dads - that's what I told hubs...

When I showed him the last pics.

It would've most unusual for all 14 to have survived and I'm sure you worked very hard to save those poor babies you lost. Wish I could've been there to help.

Can't wait for more pics now, when she's about 6wks old.

In the meantime, I'll be talking to hubs about her.

You're a jewel, MM.

8. They're beautiful! It's hard to thrive if the gestation period has been compromised, which was

Probably the case... Poor nutrition. I hope mama is so occupied with the survivors that she doesn't notice the losses and get depressed.
They're all so lucky to have you! Thanks for caring!

9. Poor nutrition probably

And when she got to me, she was so stuffed full of pups, she didn't have much room to eat.I understand that that is pretty typical at the end of a pregnancy.
