Related: About this forumSophie Stinky Toes gave me quite a scare, yesterday.
She was fine, all morning, but by afternoon she was really lethargic and seemed shaky and unsteady. She mostly just crouched on the floor but the few times she tried to jump up on the chair, she was miscalculating by about an inch. She wasnt following me around and squawking at me, which is really odd.
She didn't 'hurt' when I picked her up. I gave her some wet food and a few treats and she ate them right up but still was not acting right. I cleaned her water jug, gave her a little more wet food and she finally, still a little unsteady, jumped up on her cat bed. I put a little dry food by her and she nibbled on that and went to sleep. When she woke up she was still a little off but definitely had more energy. She curled up on my lap, for a while, and then she hopped back into her bed.
She didnt wake me up at 4, this morning so when I did wake up at 5:30 I freaked out! But, she heard me move, jumped up out of her bed and seems to be 100% back to normal. Regardless, Im going to be keeping a close eye on her. Although, perhaps it was just her ploy to get me to feed her more treats and wet and less dry cat food?
Anyway, she's 'lounging around', today.

(26,241 posts)I plan to take her to the vet, just to err on the side of caution. She is about 13 years old so I know it might be close to time to start watching and testing for 'things'. Kind of like I'm doing for myself, right now.
The vet is finally letting human's back in the building with their pets, but you have to arrive, call and let them know you are in the parking lot, and then wait for them to get you. Sophie is VERY stressed by being in the car so my brother said he'd come along and sit with her, in the back seat. They are only letting one human in, per animal, so he'd have to wait in the car.
Fortunately, today, she is right back up to speed and that includes precision leaping from one piece of furniture to the other.

If her condition changes, please let us know.

(26,241 posts)She's back to doing rollies, head butts, grooming my hand, chasing laser dots, waking me up in the middle of the night to make sure I'm "OK", demanding scritches and pestering me by demanding treats when I'm working in the kitchen.

(3,394 posts)Makes a huge difference taking my girl Sophia to the vet. It contains the pheromones that calms kitties. I also used their plug in diffuser when I adopted her; had no issues introducing her to my other cat, Stanley.
