Unexpected pandemic effect

In June we fostered four kittens. We wound up keeping one—a very sociable, outgoing brown tabby we named Jake. He loves to play, he loves to cuddle, he learned about the other cats—who will play, who won’t play but will hang out, who is best kept away from. But, thanks to the pandemic, he’s only seen two humans except for the vet who neutered him. Today a repairman came into the house and we realized that our friendly outgoing Jake is terrified of strangers.

She too is a brown tabby. Close to the same markings. I'll bet they are distant relatives!
