The pets make staying at home (pandemic) easier

I'm so grateful for our 4 rat terriers (Cookie, Peanut, Billy and Audry) and our two cats (Happy and Cuddles). Being shut in with another human is trying, for sure. The fur family doesn't know anything about Covid, they just continue on, bringing joy.

They don't even realize that they give joy. They're just happy for love an attention.

Over the last two years or so, our old cat, Babette, tased away at age 24. Then our beloved cocker spaniel, Bubba (also known as the dumbest but most lovable dog!) had to be euthanized. Then, just months before the pandemic hit, our last furry friend, Lucia, died on the way to the vet.

At the time, we decided to wait a while to grieve before we sought out another family member. We just started looking around trying to get a sense of what will work for us as we're getting older. If we end up staying in the mountains rather than going back to NYC, we're thinking of at least one dog.

Recently, I saw a beautiful animal whose breed is the Miniature Australian Shepherd:

Maybe when Spring starts to set in and the snow melts...

And I was able to foster a cat for awhile. It is so hard to even get a cat to foster now; by the time I email animal control back after they send out a mass email about needing a foster I always get, "They have already been pulled but thank you"

I think I would go stir crazy if it wasn't for Paco annoying me all day. And Peanut stays by herself but always lets me love her when I want.

Although I suspect she enthusiastically celebrates when I make a quick trip to the shops because she gets some 'alone' time.
