When younger she used to jump fences - had a heckuva time keeping her in.
Thanks!

either they haven't weaned last fall's calves or they calve year round and/or let the cows self-wean. don't see that very often, most people try to keep a tight calving period and wean earlier than "natural"

I've never really paid attention to how they run their operation. It's like we'll get up one morning and cows are back in the pasture. Mostly they grow timothy hay on the land.

not enough Dems out here in the sticks anymore, despite what all the New Deal and other progressive actions have provided for this demographic.

you are obviously in a little wetter area than me. I'm in the southeast corner of Arizona.

I love the way the dogs are looking back at you. I was raised in a small town and still much prefer rural to urban. Live now in central Washington State, nowhere near Seattle nor Spokane. It gets so quiet, sometimes I can hear the motion of birds' wings flying overhead.

We live outside a redneck city (more like a town) still in denial of the pandemic and convinced trump should rightly be president. Again. One of the things I really like about Democratic Underground is DEMOCRATIC. And members' friendliness, down-to-earth-ness.

But back to your photo — the lighting, composition, the Dogs! It's a great picture!

I'm heading to bed. Oh, one other comment: You really know your cows!

Goodnight

More great shots, thanks!

You must live somewhere in the vicinity of the Oklahoma panhandle, five state region. That is just a guess going by the images you have on-line of the Black-billed Magpie and bird on a wire I think is a Say's Phoebe.

Nope. Central Washington State. East side of the Cascades. A little closer to Seattle than Spokane, but same latitude basically. We live outside the city of Ellensburg on thirteen acres, on which my wife built up a horse retirement farm.

Where're you?
