Hairballs!!

My cat continually regurgitates hairballs, not each time she eats but every three days or so. My ultimate concern is that she’s not getting her nutrients.

For those of you who have this issue with your cat, can you give any advice on how you deal with it?

(If only there were a catfood she liked that helped handle this problem!)

BTW, she eats wet and dry food and has the problem with both

Thank you 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

My cat makes me play, ‘where did I throw up today?’ when I get home….he also eats wet and dry food and the dry food is supposed to be targeted to hairballs-

I’m so sorry, but understand your pain

Of course that works with short hairs too. Our cats loved petromalt (well, one did; others went along with it) — sort of a petroleum jelly-like laxative I think. Keeps the barfing down, prevents blockages.

There are foods made to help with hair balls, but I don’t know whether they work.

Other advice is to distract your cat from grooming too much by playing with it. (Not the hair ball, the cat!)

If it really is hairballs, then you can add some lecithin to her food. That will cause the hair to pass in bowel movements.
A cat rescue group told me about this. The brand they recommended was Natures Plus Egg Yolk Lecithin 600 mg. It comes in a capsule, which you can open up and mix with the wet food. A capsule can be spread out over maybe 4-6 meals. You may want to experiment with this.

Also, you could groom her more often so she doesn't lick so much fur off herself.

All of my cats love it!

Most pet stores sell it. I buy it online from Chewy and Amazon.

My Tsuki was having diarrhea and throwing up. I took her to the vet and found she has gasterole intestine ( I think that was the name for it ) problems. We started her on a food for digestive issues. That only worked for awhile so we started her on hydrolyzed food which has worked well. Also started pro-biotic powder which helps both her and my other kitty. My Liam does throw up occasionally but that is because once in awhile he gorges the dry food. If the bowel is empty for 5 minutes he thinks he's starving so just monitoring him solves that.
