The 145th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is this weekend, and there's a lot to yap about.
For the first time, because of the pandemic, the show has moved 28 miles from inside Madison Square Garden in Manhattan to the outdoors, on the grounds of the 67-acre Lyndhurst Estate in Tarrytown, N.Y. ......
In a show unlike any other this 145th year, may the best pup win. But of course, we all know that the best dog of all is your dog.

(20,044 posts)There are always audience favorites. I remember the year Uno the beagle won. The audience went nuts, and he started going "Ah-roooo!". It's not that often that an ordinary household breed wins the big prize. Unfortunately, Uno was found to be sterile, so he didn't get to pass his great genes to another generation. He lived out his years as a beloved therapy dog.

(10,690 posts)The breed comments were quite often ignorant and negative. You never say such things about a breed, you could really destroy their popularity. whoever wrote them needs to find a new job in advertising.
Also, I was appalled at the politics playing out in a number of breeds. The dogs shown were not anywhere near top quality for the breed, but since they were shown by long time AKC shower/breeders, they would win best of breed anyhow. Friends tell me that is the norm, but it was more blatant this year, IMO.
