I miss my Maggie so much. Having a rough day and have been thinking of her and missing her. This is one of my favorite pics. Its hard to believe shes been gone for 10 years now.
We had 16 great years together. I got her when she was only 6 weeks old (and I was only 19). She went to college with me and we had many, many adventures. When she passed, I was devastated and still havent had the heart to raise another pup. I love dogs but their lives are so short. I absolutely adore my cats, they are my best friends, but its not the same.

(4,605 posts)The first one that comes to mind:
She found a way to escape the backyard at our house at college. One of us (me or my boyfriend) were always out there with her, so she would wait until we popped inside for a sec to grab a drink, or were distracted by something, to make her escape. We never did figure out how she was getting out.
The first time it happened, we were frantically combing the neighborhood for her. It was very unlike her to wander off, so it was terrifying. After an hour, we went back home to call the pound, in case they had picked her up. Instead, we got a phone call. It was a guy from a frathouse several blocks over. I think we have your dog?
We rushed over and found her having the time of her life! They had discovered she knew a ton of tricks and were feeding her snacks for tricks, lol! They were a good bunch of guys. About once or twice a month she would slip out of the yard to go visit them. Theyd throw the ball for her and just enjoyed petting her and having a dog around. They kept a box biscuits for her visits and even got her some toys. Theyd call and wed give her an hour or so to hang out before going to get her. She was also allowed in the bar in town. By the time we left, everyone knew her.

(31,979 posts)They love to escape and seek out new friends! Im glad you found her safe and happy. Those guys must have gotten such a kick out of her.
Heres one Ill bet no one has heard of before. Our former Lab, Molly, ran away ... to the vets office! Our vets office is caddy corner from our house,so she didnt have far to go. She knew there were people in there who would fawn over her and give her treats, amd were they ever surprised to see her pawing at the glass door one morning. (And how embarrassing before us when they called us and said, Weve got your dog here ...)

(12,463 posts)Have been gone over ten years. They were incredible cats .Not a day goes by I don't think of them .
So ten years is not all that long to miss a good friend.
Your Moo was gorgeous. And she has the sweetest face. Wish I could have met her.

(205,220 posts)And I certainly understand. My dog just turned 15, adopted him at 5 months, he's been fine except for a persistent ear infection, but I worry.

(28,120 posts)Yellow girl in Dec. I'm still heartbroken, so I can totally relate. There's nothing like them.
to you, hb.
On edit: if you live near the mid- Atlantic coast, you should contact MiniMe. She's fostering a beautiful, sweet girl in Lab Rescue who's needing a home.
Just a thought.

(9,761 posts)Think we are always connected with those we love and who have loved us, even after they pass. Sometimes I get this feeling they are still here with us, we just cant see them. But if we pay close attention, we might feel a moment of comfort that whispers to us, I am still here beside you.

(22,061 posts)Of a gorgeous pupster. Glad you have sixteen years of good memories.
I've lost so many over the years, and it never gets any easier. All 4 of our dogs are getting aged now, and I'm dreading what I know is coming......
