Does this kill fleas or repel? SheltieLover Jun 2021 #7

It's the cheap stuff, but when we had a flea outbreak last year, it was the only thing that worked. It's almost like the fleas are becoming resistant.

It's doing the job, and we can afford it, so I think we're sticking with it--at least for now.

Fleas are def more resistant this year!

We've tried Vet's Best & Wondercide yard treatments, dog has a Seresto collar on (2nd one this season!), & is on NexGuard to disrupt breeding cycle. Cat is on Revolution. nada.

Fleas everywhere. Dog gets 2-3 baths with Dawn each week to kill fleas, but the second he goes into yard to do his business, they are on him.

Our situation is complex because dog showed up one day abput 3 yrs ago, loaded with worms & heartworm. We are treating with the "slow kill" method. But there are many meds he cannot take.

I really need yard treatment, but I am unwilling to harm bees, birds, etc.

I have all hardwod, though. Not sure how that would work. My house isn't infested, it's the yard.

Seresto has worked 100% for 3 yrs, but not this year.

Bayer did sell Seresto though, so who knows.

Once it gets moist, it doesn't work.

I have a new bag in garage trying to figure out how to make it work. Lol i just don't think there is a way. 😞

Ty though. Great suggestion & would be my go to in a normal environment.

directly to plants and it will stick when dry but will wash off in rain. “DE will not kill bugs while it's wet, but once it dries out it will retain its bug-killing properties.” Best of luck. I had an indoor/outdoor cat and know fleas can be a nightmare.

Maybe I'll give it a try. Desperate, but unwilling to harm bees, squirrels, birds, ferals, etc.

Obviously wash your hands afterwards, but no spot-on treatment is meant to go near the face.

It's like second-nature to me.

It's not very kind to my hands, however.

They get really dry. I use Eucerin Original Healing Formula on my hands to rehydrate them. It leaves my hands a little greasy to stitch with silk right away, but I just wash once and then it's fine.

if there is a reaction (quite rare) or if someone accidentally used a large dog dose on a tiny dog, you can wash most of it off immediately (waterproof, however after 12 hours). In contrast to the oral meds that have already absorbed.

He's on "long kill" heartworm plan. Came to us as stray, loaded with intestinal worms & heartworm. 😢

Also on NexGuard & Strogis for gut worming monthly.

Tyvm again.
