Family members make out yesterday?
Uncle Ruckus was upstairs at 9 last night, on top of my head in his thunder shirt -
Shaking for three hours.
But he had pulled pork pre barbecue sauce for dinner - so he got something for surviving the late day war.

(27,443 posts)My dog, who usually barks at the booms, is now mostly deaf and didn't react at all.
Our furbabies do have a hard time during these loud celebrations.

(1,487 posts)Last night till 1 AM, will continue till they shut down the pop-up firework sellers, usually another week. Our girl sits in the walk-in closet, shivering, panting etc. We've tried thunder shirts, tranquilizers, all to no avail. Best thing on the horizon for the Charleston, SC area is Elsa, she will shut them down for a night. Next up, Thanksgiving, Xmas, New Years....

(6,698 posts)The younger one laid on top of me in bed, trembling and panting.
How do people in this lower- to middle-class neighborhood have the money to set off fireworks for almost six hours steady? These werent occasional bursts and bangs - it was constant, from before dusk until about 1:00.

(5,822 posts)I'm in KS but one on my neighbors told me last night her middle class relatives in CO spend at least $1000 on fireworks for the 4th every year....wtf...complete waste and aggravation for their neighbors, both furry and human...

(37,770 posts)Questioned (herself a fur babys' mama) "Our people nearly done burning money yet?". Or is this just a break.

That is awful. I do hope they find her soon. Poor thing. Do they use Facebook? That's a great way to locate missing pets. People here use it all the time.

(9,509 posts)A few minutes later she was back. They figured she was in the bushes next to the house where she couldn't be seen. All is well.

(2,468 posts)in a room she is not allowed in. No idea how she got in there, but we had to keep calling and calling to finally get her to peek out. My Jersey boy was visible but just barely, and he is a velcro kitty. Old dog Donner hid under my desk and leaned against me, and I am not his primary person, only secondary.
My neighborhood noise makers must have a lot more money than they seem to, I agree. It did seem to calm down after midnight, though.
Jersey just added all the space below to this message by lying on the keyboard.

(23,949 posts)took it all in stride... after a bit just went into his crate and slept... but to be fair, it was just the yahoos across the lake with their small display... for some reason the big fireworks over the lake are tonight... we shall see
Random Boomer
(4,393 posts)and we used tranquilizers on one of our hound dogs. To our relief she was much calmer than past years. She paced a little when the fireworks were at their most intense, but overall she got through it without major trauma.
