15 easiest dogs to travel with, according to the AKC

I think we may have some disagreements with this list, at least based on our experience.

Years ago I was giving 3 college kids a ride up to Maine for thanksgiving break. So there were 4 of us and everybody’s stuff in my compact hatchback car. When it was all packed their faces looked concerned. I asked what was wrong and one person said quietly ‘Where’s the dog (my Rottie) going to be?’

Well the answer to that was on top of some duffle bags in the rear cubbie. Probably scared some drivers behind us but she was very comfortable and used the top of the seat back to rest her head. Such a good girl!!

She will leave her food bowl half-filled mid-meal if she thinks there might be a chance for a ride in the car.

On nearly all trips, she is actively looking around and enjoying herself the whole way. Often, the other people are asleep, but she is sitting there looking at everything.

I think all breeds probably would make good travelers if that's what they learn.

Those one were the best!
She also believed all drive thrus offered dog biscuits and stared intently at bank tellers waiting for her treat.

Dogs bring such joy and make those car rides, with ears flapping in the wind, so much more fun!

I hate going to the bank night deposit. She knows where we are. I had to start making sure I had the same kind of milkbones to give her, but I think she knows 'somthin ain't right about this'.

He's 6 now but had a not great reaction to being boarded in April. He was distraught and anxious for 2 days after we got him home, wouldn't get out of our shadow and panted a super lot. So, this time he's going with us. We found a small resort that was ok with a 55 lb. dog, that has a beach and pool and onsite restaurant with free breakfast. There are tons of places with patio dining around. We've got a beach sun tent for our time there and doggie downers for the 2 times we go snorkeling. So hoping this goes well so we can travel more when it's safer. We've had these reservations for months, never thought it would get this bad again .

I HATE MASKHOLES!!

15 hours with our Irish Terrier laying on the back seat. She never made a sound the whole trip. We stopped probably 5 times total and let her out to do her business. She's a great travel dog

But ride was the last thing his big Yellow Lab sister wanted to do.
