Related: About this forumHere's a weird kitten related poop issue
Morgan, who is quite fluffy on occasion does not quite finish pushing out the poop and it gets stuck at the end of the 'shoot'. I don't notice until most of it has dried onto the hair, which makes removal a LOUD process involving wrapping her in a towel, warm water and patience.
My instinct is, when ever I see her leave the litter box I should check for unfinished business and remove it before it dries. It is just an occasional issue but I will definitely mention it to the vet. Perhaps she just needs to be trimmed, on occasion?
Anyone else ever have this issue?

(113,229 posts)and try to check him when he is done. If I miss, I use baby scissors. Had a friend whose longhair often got matted. She insisted on painful, lengthy combing. Took me less than two minutes with scissors.
A recommendation for their diet when older is a little bit of olive oil in their food.

(26,257 posts)She was, well, still is, very unhappy with the grooming, this morning, but it had to be done! I'm just going to have to be more vigilant and keep an eye on her litter box exits.
I was flea coming them, this morning, too, and now they are boycotting my lap!! I guess I got a bit carried away. They are old enough for me to use medication, now, so I'm going to check with the vet on Tuesday.

(57,073 posts)I did this once. Although, it is probably somewhat traumatic.
Can you trim with scissors while she is asleep?
She might grow out of the issue, with firmer stools.

(26,257 posts)Also hope to find out when I can get them spayed and neutered. The sooner the better. I think they are old enough and probably meet the weight criteria.
And I should try trimming when she's sleeping. I've found it's the best time for flea combing. Especially Madoc. He knocks right out when he goes to sleep.

(57,073 posts)Great idea to trim while sleeping!
Pls keep us updated on what vet tells you?

(26,257 posts)They are at about 12 weeks, now. I know it's important to neuter them before they reach puberty, to HOPEFULLY prevent the 'spraying' problem.

(57,073 posts)Vet said much simpler once testes drop. 20+ yrs ago lol. Could be different now. At least for dogs (adult), now a neuter no longer is just cutting off testes, the vet removes testes & leaves sack. Not sure why or when this changed, but that's how my current Pittie was done (as adult).
For female, maybe earlier would be ok. Not sure.
It's been 20+ yrs since I've had a pup & even longer for a kitten. I'm sure enjoying your crew's antics. Ty for sharing!

(26,257 posts)Today is actually the 2 month mark, since I found them in my garden. I'm going to scroll back to those first photos so I can do a comparison.

(65,274 posts)from happening when their stool is a bit loose.
Sometimes I do the trim myself with scissors, but since they don't cooperate, it's easier to ask the vet go do it with a trimmer.

(23,083 posts)She got bad arthritis starting at 10 years & it affected her grooming ability, especially as she got older. So I'd find more & more deposits still stuck on her, or on the floor near one of their boxes. I'd just keep packs of wipes on hand, and pull off the "stickers" or pick them up, whichever was needed.
When she had diarrhea, I trimmed her fur around her butt way back, and that helped too. As she got really old, she had more & more trouble with grooming, so I often had to wipe her butt to get her clean. She was always very tolerant, think she knew this was good for her & know she liked getting clean.

(26,257 posts)Suffice it to say I went on a panic buying binge because I had NO idea what I was doing. They came in handy when little Cinder (Squeaky) used to dive head and feet first into his bowl of slurry.
I'm definitely going to try giving her a trim

(23,083 posts)We'd wrap Zoey in a towel but leave her butt hanging out and he'd hold her while I trimmed. It was easy that way.
Good luck, it should make both of our lives a little easier.

(26,257 posts)Also have another friend who will be a great resource.
I kept finding stray bits of poop in their play room and thought that was weird because they are so good at using the liter box. So, I guess they would probably eventually fall off, on their own, but I'd rather take care of it before they drop off and I step on one.

(15,088 posts)We used to have one of those furball cats and know the issues. We found we could keep her butt trimmed with just a pair of scissors. A bigger issue was when she swallowed fur cleaning herself, which occasionally resulted in a turd dangling off hair that didnt make it all the way out with the poop.

(2,815 posts)He has always had issues so he gets shaved back there. Even when he is shaved he is never clean it's just less of an issue. He HATES when I have to clean him up.
I wish a baby wipe would be enough but it isn't. He can tell when he has issues back there and will avoid me. I've run out of ideas of where to hide the wet cleaning rags to clean him up without arousing his suspicion. Using a spray bottle and some towels worked for awhile he didn't seem that bothered by it.
I once gave him a bath because it was so bad. You would have thought that I was murdering him he howled so much.
I've tried a million different foods to see if he would have any improvement but nothing works.
Now when he is just a little nasty back there I wait until it dries and I use the groomer comb to get rid of most of it. I am barely able to walk and it's getting worse so I don't have a lot of options left. My EX is the one that comes over once in a while to do the shaving but he lives 3 hours away.
Captain is staring at me right now accusing me of talking about his dirty butt to strangers.
I have been watching your posts and delighting in all of the activities. Last Monday my dear Nora, a rescue adoptee at 5 months, was diagnosed with FIPwhich is deadly with no cure. The vet said that the next time to bring her in in a week or two would be for euthanasia.
I look at your kitties with joy and envy. May you love them all you can, Siwsan. Hug them for me please.

(26,257 posts)I still sometimes I see her darting past me.
These kittens are little bundles of joy. I'm glad you enjoy following their story. I will definitely give them a hug for you.
